Google Employee, 27, Vanessa Marcotte, Found Dead in Princeton

A Google employee from New York City who disappeared on an afternoon jog while visiting her mother in Massachusetts has been found murdered in the woods.

Authorities reportedly located her body Sunday evening and are investigating her death as a crime, based on evidence they collected at the scene.

According to Mass Live, a necropsy has not yet been performed.

Marcotte, a Boston University graduate, was an account manager at Google. According to her LinkedIn profile, Marcotte had been at Google since January 2015 and was working as part of the company's health care division.

A Google representative said, “Vanessa Marcotte was a much-loved member of the Google team, working in our New York office for the last year and a half and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of Boston sports.

We are deeply shocked and saddened, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.”

Vanessa alma mater paid tribute to her as well. “We’re so terribly sad for her family and friends,” said Colin Riley, the executive director of media relations at Boston University. “They’re in our thoughts and prayers.”

Her body was discovered at around 8.20pm Sunday by a state police K9 unit near Brooks Station Road, about a half-mile from her mother's home.

Other evidence suggested that Marcotte's body had been burned and investigators were also looking into the possibility of sexual assault, the newspaper reports.
