Soundarya Lahari sloka 1 in english

Lord Shiva only becomes able.
To do creation in this world along with Shakti
Without her, even an inch he cannot move,
And so how can, one who does not do good deeds,
Or one who does not sing your praise,
Become adequate to worship you
Oh, Goddess mine, Who is worshipped by the Trinity.

For this Sloka of Sri Saundarya-Lahari, Govinda is the Rsi (seer). Govinda means Cowherd or Protector of Cows, or one who gives pleasure to senses.

These names are also popularly addressed to Krishna, referring to his youthful activity as a cowherd. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, in his commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita, states that Govinda means "master of the senses".

The Saundarya-lahari, in addition to dealing with all aspects of the Devi as consort of Siva, is also looked upon as collection of Mantra-s possessed of considerable sanctity and merit. Each solka has a yantra with Bijakshara prescribed course of worship, Japa and a distinctive aim to be achieved by practice of Mantra.

Succes depends on faith and devotion brought t bear on the worship. It is considered reprehensible to put the efficacy of any mantra to test. Should there be any delay or difficulty experienced by the worshipper, more devotion is the only sovereign remedy.
